How do you learn guitar chords?

3 Guitar Chords Every Guitar player Should Know First!

Guitar Hero? Besides some twelve years old, who else do you think that’s going to be impressed? Instead of wasting your time with a toy pretend guitar, how about start learning how to play the real thing. Learn Guitar is a skill that will give you and everyone around you lots of fun. And believe it or not, chicks really dig guys who play the guitar. aka Elvis, Beatles etc... Always have, and always will.

The guitar has a way of showing up at all types of gatherings such as beach parties and camp outs, and it sometimes it gets passed around so people who know how to play can strum out some sort of tunes while everyone sings along maybe. Instead of passing it on to the next guy, why not just hold on to it and belt out a song of your own? Getting a group of people to sing a song while you provide the accompaniment is one of the easiest ways to command a room like a star. But what if you’ve never played the guitar before? What most used chords should one know, so when the opportunity arises to “forefront,” he won’t be left looking like a chicken?

For the answer, I went to my best friend, Tony. who taught me when I was twelve years old. He said:

The Three most Essential Guitar Chords for any one learning to play guitar According to my Tony, the three most common guitar chords every student should learn are G Major, C Major, and D Major.

“You can play almost any song with those beginning guitar chords (except those like Taylor Swift songs, cause they always have kind of dramatic teenage girl sound minor chord put in).”

Not only can you play a lot of songs with these chords, they’re super simple to play. Below I show the guitar tablature, or tabs, for the G C D chords and an explanation on how to read the tab for the learned.

There they are. Now, what the heck do they mean?
